The Peregrine Papers was conceived after many years of chasing dreams and pursuing professions. In her youth, Regina Mandell found comfort and pleasure in the arts and spent many weekends studying visual arts at the Fleisher School and later, years studying piano and double bass at the Performing Arts School. Becoming disgruntled with college after only two years, she left to begin living in the real world immediately finding work at a small, but extremely productive jewelry studio in the Old City section of Philadelphia. This initial job started a long career in the design and fashion industry. Over the next decade or so she spent time printing t-shirts, studying pattern making, learning production management, designing clothing and traveling the trade show circuit. There was a stint at the now defunct RetroActive, a spell at Urban Outfitters, she saw the upstart of Sailor Jerry and eventually her own company, Niko; a women's clothing line created in conjunction with Miss Tracy Lutz. Most recently there was Grasshopper, a long-smoking pipe dream of owning a boutique that became a reality in 2006 and lasted four years before losing the fight with a rough economy.
A mistress of reinvention, Regina has lived many lives and most times feels that she has surely been born in the wrong era. A true lady of leisure and student of life, she now chooses spending her time traveling, socializing, reading, crafting, cooking and sharing her finds and perspectives with her loyal readers.
